Spider Original™

A lot of people ask why we named our original rubber compound after one of the creepiest creatures on the planet. In response, we ask them if they’ve ever seen a cute puppy climb up a completely vertical, soaking wet rock. No? We rest our case.

Why choose between natural motion and comfort when you can have both? The TevaSphere’s spherical heel and support pods give you the natural motion benefits of barefoot, and also the comfort and protection of a traditional shoe.

  • Our TevaSphere outsole uses a spherical heel with two support pods to give you lightweight minimalism without sacrificing stability.
  • Our Spider365 Rubber sole will hold its grip in all kinds of environments.
  • Open toe construction doesn’t allow water to pool.
  • Synthetic Upper.
  • Multiple points of adjustment allow for the perfect fit.
  • Microban® zinc-based anti-microbial treatment keeps the stink down.

Great Zilch Alternative

By Toe Runner

from Portland, OR

  • Flexible forefoot
  • Lightweight
  • Secure
  • Sleek

  • Limited strap adjustment
  • Support Pods Excessive
  • Too Much Arch

Best Uses

  • Hiking
  • Running
  • Walking

For 2 years Zilch's were my favorite 'hiking boot' both for the rocky, gritty trails of the US SW & for hiking the scree fields of the Italian Dolomites. After 2 hikes, this sandal performs like a worthy substitute for the Zilch. Both sandals are kind to my bunions and neuromas that are in remission, both let me grip the trails with my forefoot, especially on steep, gritty descents. The Versa insole material should be more durable than that of the Zilch which tended to shred like wallpaper and new insole surface shouldn't be slippery like the Zilch's was once water logged. The straps aren't as substantial as the Zilch but I trust that Teva knows what it's doing. The bottom forefoot strap isn't adjustable which eliminates the option of wearing toe socks for me.

Last year I ran a mountainous marathon and then a 50K in Teva "Zilch "sandals - what a great experience - like flying -I didn't notice my feet until the toe strap slipped off. Teva has addressed this issue beautifully in the "Versa" by putting the adjustable cross-foot strap nearer the big toe , so all the toes stay IN and ON the sandal. this one one of the best -designed sandals ever, with its "least amount of material for the most amount of strength"-principal. So far I can't find anything about it I am unhappy with, and I hope more minimalist-footwear runners will turn to this sandal , for its strength and comfort exceed all others out there.
