cute, but not functional for rafting

        By Rafter Kathy

        from Bailey, Colorado

        Pros

        • Cute Colors
        • Original Style

        Cons

        • No Spider Rubber On Sole
        • Stretches Too Much Wet

        Best Uses

        • Walking around town

I bought the original Teva over 20 years ago when we first started rafting. I like the strap that goes in between your toes. I have not been able to find a replacement in the recent past, so nobody was happier than I when the original Teva came back! The color choices are very cute and stylish. However, I was very disappointed in their performance as a river shoe used by rafters. The material stretches out too much when they get wet and the shoe no longer stays on your foot. There was a intermediate version of the original sandal that had a double Velcro closure system, and this is what these new originals also need. I got stuck in river mud, and the shoe came right off. Also, there is no Spider Rubber on the bottom to grip the rocks. This shoe does not go from swimming in the river to hiking the canyon trails like other Teva products I have had. These sandals are best suited for walking around town and other applications where they will not get wet. Teva, please re-design this concept into something more usable on the river!

        Great sandal, BUT.....

        By SJABQ

        from ABQNM

        Pros

        • Convertable
        • Easy to wear

        Cons

        • Ankle strap too short

        Best Uses

        • Schlummin'

These are great sandals for just about anything. I bought the coral (more orange than expected), the aqua green (definitely green side of aqua)and the black/gold leather polka dot. Love the option of converting to a slip on with the back strap in the front...that is what the extra velcro and rubber loop is for.
Only issue I have is the ankle strap is a little too short. If you have ankles that swell from altitude/flying/heat, they may be a little tight at first.

        Stylish, versatile, but ages quickly.

        By Crystal P

        from Palo Alto, CA

        Pros

        • Comfortable
        • Fashionable
        • Theoretically Comfortable

        Cons

        • Frays easily

        Best Uses

        • Hiking
        • Light hiking
        • Walking

These sandals are pretty true to their sizing, but for my long feet and short toes, the front pinched at certain angles of walking, particularly at first before breaking them in. The I find the ankle straps very flattering.

The issue with these is that the sandal strap body, frays pretty easily. There is an extra patch of velcro that causes a lot of fraying between the ankles, which I have shown in a photo; I have no clue to the purpose of this feature.

In less than one week these sandals already appear aged; otherwise I really would recommend these to all who are looking for a sandal for all casual and active occasions.

Do these sandals have a sole similar to the Mush ones? I mean, do they mush down to fit your feet?
Asked on 5/19/2014 by ladyhawk from Rochester, NY

          1 answer

          • CUSTOMER CARE

            A:

The footbed on the Original Sandal is not made of Mush and is actually EVA instead. It will not mush down under your feet as much.

I have an extra wide foot, size 11. Will these sandals be comfortable for me?
Asked on 3/9/2014 by Connie from South Jersey

          • CUSTOMER CARE

            A:

All of our women's product comes in a medium B width. Since the "thong" part of this style does not adjust, they might be a tight fit for wide feet.

        • Q:

Hi, im interested in teava original sandal urban 2 brown but they dont seem to have it in men's anymore so are there differences between men and womens' and if i happen to buy one which size should i get if im a US9 men?
Asked on 2/28/2014 by Jay Knowles

          1 answer

          • CUSTOMER CARE

            A:

The width is different. The women's width is a medium B and the men's is a standard D. If you are a men's 9 you would wear a women's size 11.
