April 2008 Stories...

A pair to love

Josefina Jimenez

April 21st

Born and raised in one the biggest cities in the world (Mexico City), the girl writing to you is no couch potato but also not the outdoorsy type, asphalt jungle, that is my territory, dressy shoes to go with it. Despite the perennial city love, I was born with the travel bug and met my match marrying a worldly guy born in Madagascar and raised in Paris, Seattle and Mumbai. We now live in San Francisco, California. We had a "group honeymoon" in Acapulco, Mexico, over a year ago (where around 20 wedding guests joined us) so we could take our dream honeymoon in 2008: half a year traveling around Asia. My city-girl feet, always getting blisters from the high heels, were scared to know I would basically be wearing only two pairs of shoes for 6 months!!! My husband was worried too as he knew too well about my "picky feet" not adapting to just any pair of shoes. I chose a pair of Teva sandals for the hot, humid weather in Asia at this time of the year and now, after two months of day-in and day-out wer, I am in love! Not one day have I stopped because my feet were hurt by my shoes. To my surprise, my husband's feet have been hurting because he chose a regular pair of leather sandals. He has now decided to throw those away and see if he could find a pair of Teva's of his own in these lands (we are in Laos and going to Vietnam tomorrow, April 22). Our tarvel blog is www.travelpod.com/members/josie_ty but I am sending a pic of my Tevas in Thailand and telling everybody at Teva, thanks and good job!

Great Wall of China

April 15th

In 2004 after my husband and I hopped on a plane to China to meet our new daughter. It was June and as I packed one pair of shoes my Teva Mush flips. From the moment we stepped off the plane the heat hit us and my husband in his big leather sandals started to sweat not me I was light and airy in my Teva flips. We arrived in Beijing and I was ready to tour the city before we hiked the great Wall the following day. Two days of touring the great countryside to gather up the sights and smells of the new culture we were about to introduce into our lives. It had to be at least 102 degrees but I was strutting around stoked to be in china in my Tevas. The next morning we met our travel group and everyone was so excited to hike the Great wall and also because the following day we would meet our daughters for the first time since setting eyes on them a few weeks before. I have to tell you I was so happy to have my light and airy yet so supportive Teva's on. I glided up that Great wall with ease as some of the others in our group complained of blisters and hot sweaty feet. That night I wore them out and everyone complained of their feet. I popped open and can of China's best pineapple beer and said you gotta get some Tevas! We met Fu Xilan the next morning it was one of the best moments in my life. I still have the Tevas I wore to meet Fu Xilan now Elliana and hike the Great Wall they are pretty beat up but not many people can say they wore the same pair of shoes to hike the great Wall of China and meet their baby daughter for the first time.

LOVE them
