I have trouble getting my feet through the neoprene opening of the more shoe-like sandals, but want closed toe. The old version of this sandal was perfect. Now there is nothing Teva makes that I can wear.

I use the Toachi for in house foot comfort. The 2 older pairs I own are 3/4 of an inch wider thus are more comfortable. I won't purchase another pair until I know they will be wider.

A:
We foremost recommend using an antibacterial soap and water and hand wash, please do not machine wash. Also try scrubbing the top sole with a soft bristled brush while cleaning and gently bending the sandal from heel to toe under water pressure so that any dirt in the grooves of the top sole will wash away.
Other options:
• Mix 1 cup of Listerine (or any antibacterial mouth wash) to 2 cups of water. Soak for 15 minutes and scrub with a bristled brush. Let air dry.
• Put sandals in a pool with chlorine for 15-20 minutes. Scrub with a hard bristled brush. Rinse. Air dry.
• Wash them in the shower with Shampoo.
Our sandals are treated with Microban zinc (Triclosan-free!) to reduce bacterial growth. This product is most effective when it is occasionally exposed to sunlight. 15 minutes of exposure should be sufficient, we do not recommend longer than this at one time as it can be damaging to the sandals.
Some of our customers recommend the use of a product called NIKWAX Sandal Wash. Directions for the sandal wash include first rinsing the footbed with cold water and then applying the Sandal Wash as directed. After rinsing again, pat with a paper towel, and then let air dry.Answered on 1/16/2013 by Teva Product Specialist
