Spider Original™

Spider Original™

A lot of people ask why we named our original rubber compound after one of the creepiest creatures on the planet. In response, we ask them if they’ve ever seen a cute puppy climb up a completely vertical, soaking wet rock. No? We rest our case.

Drain Frame™

Drain Frame™

Squish. Squish. Squish. Annoying, right? That’s the sound of your wet shoes slogging around. Drain Frame™ drains water like a sieve, saving you from the misery of waterlogged shoes.

    Comments about Gnarkosi:

Before this weekend I always hated to get into my wet wakeskating shoes. I used my old sneakers to ride in them which with a time became smaller and more disgusting to wear. This weekend we had our nationals and it was premiere time for my new shoes, Teva Gnarkosi wakeskating shoes. Difference? When you will try them you will never want to wear anything else. Why? Because when you swim it is way easier because the water goes in and out and when you take them off after having them for a while on the sun, they will be just enough wet as they need to be. For my old ones I needed a week to dry out and leaving them in a car for next wakeskate sesh meant that my car will smell forever. Now with Teva Gnarkosi it's a time for a new lifestyle… And they are so, so light... like having a feather on your feet...

    Comments about Gnarkosi:

This is a great shoe with two issues that should in NO WAY stop you from getting them!

    Problem 1:

They have a fairly long break-in period. I read that if you don't break them in well before using them in water you will get heel blisters.

    The fix:
I got a couple pairs of the super thin socks that they make you use to try on shoes when your barefoot from the store where I bought them and wore the shoes EVERYWHERE for about 2 weeks, even work. This broke them in nicely and I had zero issues with heel blisters once I started getting them wet.

    Problem 2:

I also found in my research before buying them that the shoe was known for holding foot odors and that "gamey" smell form rivers or lakes and found it to be true (which is expected of ANY shoe worn in wet conditions during athletic activities).

    The fix:

Every time I come home from wearing them while kayaking or mountain biking (90% of the trails where I live are near rivers or lakes and I like to swim mid-ride to cool off in the summer) I leave them on in the shower until I get to cleaning my feet. The hot soapy water running over them helps to clean them out and then I take them off and rinse them completely with super-hot water and rest them toes up so that all of the water can drain out. Needless to say my Gnarkosies only smelled for one day!

ADVICE - Buy them a 1/2 size smaller than normal if you will be using them in the water as you will be barefoot and should compensate for the space the sock won't be taking up inside the shoe.

    Good but could be better

    By TheFisherman

    Pros

      Cons

          Comments about Gnarkosi:

          Only two criticisms:

You cannot remove the insole which has an arch support that is uncomfortable for me.

While it may drain and may "dry quickly", one has to define "dry quickly". I still found that it took 24 hours to dry if it was completely submersed / wet. While it does drain, it still remains difficult to dry the inside material of the shoe particularly up towards the toe which does not get any air exposure.
