In case you were wondering, nail art is definitely here to stay. But the good news is that it doesn’t have to cost a fortune—or an entire afternoon—to achieve, especially when there’s a steady influx of mani-pedi inspiration coming from our favorite Instagram nail artists, like Kylie Higa.

To get your creative juices going, Higa created this simple step-by-step tutorial for a summer-ready tribal design that uses our special OPI collaboration color: Teva Blue.

“What really inspired me to do this tribal design was the gorgeous box the Teva X OPI polish came in,” Higa says. “I’m really inspired by the colors and designs of the everyday things around me, such as patterns on clothing. The metallic blue color of the Teva Blue is the perfect shade for summer.”

Paint your nails with a glitter polish complimentary to Teva Blue.

After the base color has completely dried, apply striping tape to your pointer finger in the pattern as shown. (If you don’t have striping tape you can cut up strips of regular Scotch tape).

Apply Teva Blue over the whole nail, on top of the striping tape. Immediately remove the striping tape slowly, piece by piece (it helps to use tweezers).

Your design should look something like this.

Repeat steps two and three to your middle finger and pinky finger.

After you’re done doing the tribal pattern to your pointer, middle, and pinky fingers, add some accents like gems, rhinestones or more glitter to your ring finer and thumb.

Apply a topcoat to all your nails and let dry.
