Teva Tribe Kayakers Secure 4 out of 5 Podium Spots At Teva Mountain Games
Goleta, CA (June 4, 2009) – The 8th annual Teva Mountain Games kicked off today with the start of the Bud Light Lime Steep Creek Race on Homestake creek just outside of Red Cliff, CO. It was just announced that the Teva Tribe paddlers secured four podium spots in this year’s competition./p>
“What a great start to this year’s Teva Mountain Games. The Tribe did an awesome job out at Homestake today.” Says Peter Warren, Teva Sports Marketing Manager. “They really trained hard leading up to the event and the competition was tough this year. Seeing their hard work pay off really made us proud.”
Top place finisher in the men’s category was new comer to the Teva Mountain Games and to the Teva Tribe, Mike Dawson from New Zealand. Mike finished with a combined time of 3:41.63. Trailing close behind Mike and in third place, Teva Tribe athlete Pat Keller finished with a combined time of 3:44.29 and just falling short of the podium, Teva Tribe athlete coming all the way from the Czech Republic, Hanza Lasko finished with a combined time of 3:45.75. Hanza is said to be the athlete who traveled the furthest to compete in the event this year.
In the women’s category, Teva Tribe athlete Nikki Kelly from New Zealand secured the first place spot with a combined time of 4:09.48. Just following Nikki with a photo finish, Teva Tribe athlete Tanya Faux from Australia finished with a combined time of 4:09.60.
